MayDay Sioux Falls

Why Mayday?

May Day (the day) has several meanings.  It is a spring festival and holiday celebrated in many cultures.  These celebrations include singing, dancing and the secret delivery of May Baskets on the porches of neighbors.  It also coincides with International Workers Day.

Mayday (the call) is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a way to signal distress on the radio.

May Day Sioux Falls allows our community to join together in celebration and service.  We will work across our city to make a difference.  We will serve the agencies that meet the needs of the young, old, poor, lonely, sick and abused.  These agencies serve our neighbors.  And our neighbors have sounded their mayday call.  They need us.  They need you.  Join an S.O.S Team today.  Invite your friends.  BE the difference in Sioux Falls.

There are four ways for you to be involved:

Pray: Pray that our work changes lives...not only the lives of those we serve, but the lives of those who serve.

Sign up to Serve: Sign up online; at the signup information center at the church; or email Lynne Jones

Pre-Planning

  • First United Methodist Church

Planning your own funeral or memorial service can provide peace-of-mind to you and your family.

By planning your service in advance you can design and specify the exact type of service you’d like, so that your friends and family celebrate you as you wish. And by letting your family know how you'd like your funeral or memorial service to be, they'll have less difficult and complicated decisions to make during a difficult emotional time.

Together with area funeral homes we will go over the basics of what we need to know.
