Serving at FIRST UMC is a great way to use your gifts and get to know others! We encourage everyone to be a part of a Team. Serving is a huge part of who we are, and we believe that serving can help us grow spiritually. We have two types of Teams: Inside Teams, Outside Teams.
KIDS: Do you have a passion for seeing families and children love God and learn about God? Serving in First UMC Children's could be the perfect fit for you. If you like working with kids, there are always opportunities to hold babies, lead small and large group discussions, and help children. If you are ready to serve with FIRST kids, please fill out the adult application.
STUDENTS: Interested in serving with FIRST UMC Students? We need adults who have a heart for serving students and helping them grow closer to God. Whether it is leading a small group, helping out at one of our services or serving alongside students, you have the ability to impact the lives of our FIRST students.
CARE @ FIRST TEAMS: Our care teams bring joy to those who have a hard time getting out and about. There are also teams that send birthday cards, sympathy cards and ohter appreciated cards.
GROUNDS: From handymen who help repair things that break on campus, to those who help care for the outside grounds, our groundskeeping and maintenance volunteers are very important in maintaining our beautiful locations.
WORSHIP & TECHNICAL ARTS: These are the folks who make the Weekend Services happen! From camera operators and guitarists, to those with a more administrative bent in a directing role, there’s a whole crew of people who work hard to make the weekends great!
CONNECTIONS TEAM: We want every person's FIRST UMC experience to be fantastic. The Connections team of volunteers helps make that happen. From the parking ministry, to serving free coffee or breakfast, to working at our Information Center, to ushering, we have something to fit your personality.
COMMUNICATIONS: Communications volunteers provide technology, writing, photography and design assistance to the FIRST UMC team. Communications volunteers have the opportunity to write stories for the Here @ FIRST magazine and provide support to many ministries.
for information of any of these groups please contact the church office @ 605.336.3652

We payfor, help prepare, and serve breakfast the 3rd Tuesday each month and Supper the 4th Tuesday. In 2016 The Banquet served 196,000 meals, and at least 25,000 of those meals were served to children under 12. They go through approximately 15,000 gallons of milk each year. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY TEAM: Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homess and hope. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
